So I just made an impulse buy. 1962 Chevy 3/4 ton pickup. it looks like this.
1962 CHEVY C20 PICKUP
All you slow pokes will have to wait now because the posting has been deleted.
I'll post some more photos later, I mean I just got the thing.
Anyway, I know S.R.R. is a Chevy man rollin' with a small block 350, what else is out there? If you've got it, or even a hoopty, let's see it.

And yes, I've been sitting in it and making truck noises all night.

I hadn't thought of that. I'll install one right after I swap out the transmission for a 350 or 400 turbo. Maybe the 700R4. Sure it's a puny 283, but it's still a V-8. With the new transmission and a 4/11 ratio it should be able to move along at a fair clip.
While sporting a nice Winchester in the gun rack.

you might want to go back and reinforce your frame some people dont take too great of care of them and well... that can lead to some problems with a more powerful engine as you surely know.

I'll post some photos, but man oh man is this truck cherry. Driving back from Lodi I had to reach down to pick up my phone that fell on the floor. I did a little experimenting by letting the wheel go and seeing what would happen. It drove straight. So, I revved her up a little and then dove down and crawled around under the seat while the truck was still rolling and dug out my phone. 15 seconds later I popped back up to discover I was still in my lane doing around 40.
It's a sweet ride.
I'm keeping the ORIGINAL 283 and will eventually swap out the gears. But the 700R4 tranny with the overdrive should take care of pretty much everything.

Sorry AB, get into the old school vehicles I've got a preference for Ford. Only because I'm big on Mustangs. As for the rest of the line, ole Henry can kiss my ass. I have a feeling you won't be happy with the high fuel economy of a 283. I'd advise you to start looking for a big block, preferably a 409.

I like Ford's too. I used to own a 54' long bed low rider with burgundy paint and gold flecks. What a ride....sigh...
Anyway. This c-20 is gorgeous.
Don't I get props for finding a classic rig that has all the OEM junk and matching vin numbers for everything?
Just hold on for a few hours and I'll post some photos. Then you'll all RUE THE DAY....I mean, then you'll all understand.

Rotor cap, plugs, fairly good tune up...I need a bracket for the power steering box and I need to replace a loose belt. Not bad, not bad....of course number 8 plug was fouled pretty bad...could be a simple gasket or a valve guide...maybe a ring....hmmm. Slight knocking...no shavings in the oil pan though. Hey, it's the original engine. The top end has been pretty much rebuilt already.
A 409 sounds about right. This isn't the vehicle for a 500. I'll settle for a 350 crate but I plan on driving the 283 until it explodes in a fiery mushroom cloud. See, that's one of the advantages of having a hot rod truck, everything is overbuilt and talking monkey simple.
And S.R.R. Let me...apologize...please note, this is the first time I've apologized to anyone on this website for anything....but yeah, sorry about the Chevy 350 accusation. I thought you had a 69' Camaro with a small block crate 350. If you are the proud owner of a classic Mustang let me quote the immortal S.E. Hinton from the equally immortal book/movie "The Outsiders."
Stay Golden Pony Boy.

Oh, how remiss of me. I haven't told anyone who's doing the rebuild for my truck.
Check out my mechanic.
