At first I was pretty anti Tea Party convention. I mean, it cost over 500 bucks just to get in the door. Then when I heard Sarah was charging 100 grand to show up and speak, I became pretty disinterested. Turns out she donated her fee to the Tea Party. Hhmmm. I'll have to do some fact checking to see where all that dough really went.
Calm down, calm down people. If you really listened to her you would realize that holding our elected officials accountable, no matter what political stripe, is what the Tea Party is all about. So I'm not bashing Sarah, I'm hopeful, but not starry eyed. Oh all right, if you haven't seen it, here it is...part one anyway, you can double click the vid and go see the whole thing on youtube.
Anyway, it's a fair speech. I've seen people say she knocked it out of the park. If so, it's a Japanese ballpark and not the bigger American version. On the plus side, she's a plain speaker and not overly given to hyperbole and rhetoric.
So I say two or three thumbs up..and I also say that Sarah still has a few years to get even better. That's what I take away from this, that this is the beginning and not the high water mark. Think I'm harsh? Go watch the whole thing and look for flubs and miscues. If you can't find any, you're as brainwashed as the other side.
But it's not all grumpiness and sourpussness. I like Sarah. I do. Compared to Jug Ears, she's a friggin' Mensa member. And it's refreshing to see a normal person talk about the things that concern normal Americans.
Is she the one? No.
You are. Each one of you, and your neighbors, and everybody else. It's up to each one of us and not a political leader to steer America back on course.
So go to a Tea Party, protest, listen to effective speakers and then go vote. Just make sure it doesn't cost 500 bucks.
